Audi has likewise innovated on its internal combustion engine: starting in 2006, Audi made an unprecedented switch to diesel power. It normally takes years for a new team to master Le Mans’ triple requirements: speed, reliability, and teamwork. 2015 was just Porsche’s second year, so winning seemed highly unlikely.
