Our journey was not your regular AWS migration as it involved moving our infrastructure from classic VMs to containers orchestrated by Kubernetes. Ultimately, we decided to go with AWS. That was in no small part due to having a board that was aligned with David’s vision. It’s a brutal, awful slog in the start. I would say, it’s always good to call out just how awful it is to be a founder, to be an entrepreneur, because that is a unique perspective that you bring to the board room that no one else shares.

I don’t know why I wanted a weird time frame like that, but I always knew that I loved advertising and marketing and growth and storytelling. If Yelp is for restaurant reviews, we’re that for software. We have real humans verify each review, and we’re getting close to a million verified reviews on our site.

Where basically the real world is just advertisements, physical in-person advertisements, for things that you should really be buying online. Des: I remember an Alexa advertisement saying “When you come home, Alexa can read out your email.” And then the file system – no one seems to have made it work.
