I’m watching public company earnings to identify early trends in the software market to inform startups’ plans for 2023. Yesterday, Microsoft & Google announced earnings. Google Cloud Platform (GCP) & Microsoft Azure had strong quarters with about 28% annual revenue growth each.

Bigger swings generally mean a longer amount of time building toward something that could work in the future. Google on GCP? In this example, there are many more waypoints the team needs to travel to to reach the destination. How much time and money has Meta spent on VR? Amazon on Alexa?
