Webnode: The Good and the Bad

All website builders will have good and bad elements to them. In your search for the best website builder, there’s a high chance you will find variations in pricing, design functionality, and integrations. Let’s take a look at both the good and bad of Webnode to find out if it’s the right platform for you.

What Webnode Is Good At

Webnode offers a user-friendly platform to its users with reliable security and speed that scales to the size of your business. With email account integration, a wide range of templates, and multiple design functionalities, you can transform your website in any way you want.

User-friendly platform: One area of Webnode that stands out the most is how user-friendly the platform is. Every drop-down menu and tab is in its respective place on your dashboard, and you can easily access each area without needing to search a knowledge base. Within the designing process, you get access to pre-designed pages, which helps save time on website design. Webnode automatically saves every change you make, so you don’t need to worry about losing progress or forgetting to save as you work.

Reliable security: Webnode hosts all websites on a secure server. Depending on how many visitors your website gets and how much content you have, Webnode can scale to the size of your business by providing you with higher bandwidth, eventually reaching an unlimited amount depending on the payment plan you choose. With seamless backups, you can restore old versions of your website in an instant and create regular backups without needing to outsource additional software.

Email account integration: Webnode makes it easy to present your business and website in the most professional way possible with a seamless email account integration. You can create a mailbox with your own domain, so you don’t have to worry about your online presence not matching in all areas. You can also set up your mailbox with your provider of choice, including Outlook or Gmail, so you can continue to receive emails the same way you are used to. The best part is how flexible this integration is, as you can create up to 100 different accounts, each with 1GB of space.

Wide range of flexible templates: Webnode’s entire collection of flexible templates is crafted with the latest design trends in mind, so there’s no need to worry about your website potentially looking outdated. Every template caters to a different business type, meaning that each content segment, layout, and design can fulfill the needs of your target market. Ease of use is the most important aspect of Webnode, so you can have peace of mind with prepared content on each template, which helps you build your website quicker than most platforms.

Additional design functionalities: Not only can you choose from a wide range of responsive and trendy templates, but you can also view Webnode’s extensive image gallery to help you add visual interest to your website. Webnode comes with a few additional design functionalities, including video backgrounds, a parallax scrolling effect, easy widget integrations, and the ability to add a customized logo and favicon to your browser tab.

What Webnode Is Lacking

While Webnode is mostly reliable and offers a user-friendly platform to all its users, the key elements it seems to be lacking involves its customer support, automation features, and the overall inflexibleness within its builder.

Lackluster customer support: Webnode currently offers only email support to its users. Also, according to Webnode’s website, that email support is available five days a week, and its representatives will try their best to resolve your issue within 24 hours. However, many users report that Webnode’’s customer service is much slower to respond than that.

Cancellation policy concerns: According to Webnode’s website, you can try any of its Premium plans for free for the first 15 days, and if you aren’t satisfied, you will receive a full refund. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case for many users. Many reviewers claim that Webnode doesn’t honor this cancellation policy consistently and often makes excuses for why a refund isn’t necessary.

Inflexible builder: Even though Webnode offers a user-friendly platform, the actual building process doesn’t offer many customization options and is rigid, according to multiple user reviews. While many reviewers were happy with the templates on offer, many still claimed that trying to customize them was an awful experience overall, as the drag-and-drop functionality was glitchy, and there weren’t many options for fonts and colors.

Webnode Options and Pricing

Other than website building, Webnode offers additional services, including business tools to help you create the ultimate business website, ecommerce functionality for online store creation, and domain names for a seamless website transition.

Webnode Business Tools

Webnode simplifies the process of creating a business website by giving you access to its business tools. In fact, you can build a business website by following six easy steps, including signing up for free, choosing a design, filling in your contact information, adding pictures and videos, publishing your website, and sharing it on your social media platforms.

Webnode lets you customize your website through drag-and-drop tools and color-coded categories. Not only can you include pictures and videos on your website, but you can also add articles and forms to expand your variety of content and have a higher chance of being found on Google. Speaking of Google, Webnode also comes with built-in SEO tools, so you don’t have to do all the work. And if you’ve ever wanted to take your business international, Webnode can create a version of your website in different languages for all your overseas customers.

To get started with a business website, you can purchase one of Webnode’s Premium plans, which start at $3.90 per month. Here’s a quick rundown of the more inclusive options:

  • Mini — $7.50 per month. Includes a free domain for one year, 1GB storage, 3GB bandwidth, premium customer support, form builder, and website statistics.
  • Standard — $12.90 per month. Includes a free domain for one year, 3GB storage, 10GB bandwidth, 20 email accounts, online store capability, Google Analytics, and two language versions.
  • Profi — $22.90 per month. Includes a free domain for one year, 7GB storage, unlimited bandwidth, 100 email accounts, unlimited multiple language versions, and unlimited backups.

Webnode Ecommerce Functionality

If opening an online store is the ultimate goal when creating a website, Webnode has one of the best ecommerce functionalities on the market today. With a simple, user-friendly dashboard, you can set up your online store in minutes through easy product descriptions and image uploads in just a few clicks. Utilizing Webnode doesn’t require you to hire a web developer or outsource a designer, as it gives you the freedom to create something that works best for you.

Not only is Webnode’s ecommerce platform incredibly intuitive, but it also offers everything you need in terms of helping you build the most functional online store. With a combination of local payment and shipping methods, you can offer your customers various options, including wire transfer, PayPal, and Stripe for payments and DHL and FedEx for shipping. Manage your orders with ease through Webnode’s order management functionality and see how your store is performing with Google Analytics.

Here’s a quick rundown of the pricing for Webnode’s Ecommerce Premium plans:

  • Standard — $12.90 per month. Includes 3GB storage, 10GB bandwidth, 20 email accounts, Google Analytics, product import, and store analytics.
  • Profi — $22.90 per month. Includes 7GB storage, unlimited bandwidth, 100 email accounts, product feed, conversion tracking, discounts, and international shipping.
  • Business — $31.90 per month. Includes 15GB storage, unlimited bandwidth, 1,000 email accounts, product search, editing orders, automatic invoicing, and multiple currencies.

Webnode Domains

Instead of outsourcing a domain registrar for the perfect domain name, you can directly purchase a domain name through Webnode. If you can’t find the right domain name for you, Webnode still allows you to connect your own to your Webnode website.

You can choose from Webnode’s wide selection of local and special domain names and receive one free for the first year with a Premium or Ecommerce plan. And if a domain name isn’t in your budget yet, you can still create a website for free through Webnode and have it hosted with one of its subdomains instead. As a Webnode domain owner, you are also fully protected from spam and can hide your details from public records through an anonymous domain registration.

Webnode prices each domain name differently, but let’s take a look at the most popular endings and their respective prices:

  • .com and .net — $19.90 per year
  • .org and .info — $39.90 per year
  • .biz — $24.90 per year

Webnode in Summary

Webnode is a decent website builder that offers beneficial features, such as professional email account integration and reliable and secure hosting. But the platform also comes with an inflexible builder and subpar customer support, which isn’t ideal, especially not for beginners.

While Webnode is an excellent choice for building a professional-looking website, there are other platforms we would recommend first. Wix is the perfect balance of design flexibility and usability, so any beginner can learn the ropes with ease. Squarespace is the ultimate platform for creatives, with incredible customization functionalities and seamless editing. And if you need an extremely affordable and simple option, Zyro is the platform to look into.
