Dear SaaStr: How Many Board Seats Do VCs Typically Get? Let me try to simplify, generally speaking: 1. Generally, “proportionate” boards are usually seen as fair, and easy to agree to. I.e., if the investors own 20%, and founders 80%, then investors get 1 board seat, that’s it. Founders can have 2 (or more) now, etc. If the investors own 50%, then split the board 50:50 (often with an outside to break a tie).

I’ve been using large-language models (LLMs) most days for the past few months for three major use cases : data analysis, writing code, & web search 1. Here’s what I’ve observed: First, coding incrementally works better than describing a full task all at once. Second, coding LLMs struggle to solve problems of their own creation, turning in circles, & debugging can require significant work.

CLI tools for working with ChatGPT and other LLMs I installed Simon’s llm, ttok, and strip-tags CLI tools and got them working, great stuff. Haven’t used them yet beyond running variations of his examples, but glad to have this toolkit. Also grabbed shot-scraper, I know that will come in handy. And installed pipx, very cool.

Why I Use Mimestream for Gmail Based on what I’m reading about Mimestream, I’m reconsidering my attitude that “I need a mail app that works with more than just Gmail,” because when I did an inventory and considered importance as a factor, 95% of my important email interactions are from Gmail accounts. I had been struggling with wanting to write at least weekly, but failing miserably–monthly at best.
